Questions we take seriously
How do you protect my information?
In layers. The connection is encrypted, all data is encrypted in the database (AES-256-GCM), and the most sensitive fields are sealed in your browser before they are sent — those we cannot read. The details are on the security page.
What happens when I die?
A relative or funeral director reports the death with a death certificate and photo ID. We verify manually, wait 72 hours — during which you are alerted and can cancel — and then open Keystone to each contact, with exactly what you granted them.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes. You can cancel immediately, export all your data in an open format, and delete your account with a 30-day grace period.
What do my survivors pay?
Nothing. Trusted contacts and survivors never pay — neither before nor after a release.
Where is my data stored?
Your data in Keystone is hosted in Frankfurt and never leaves the EU. We don't sell data, show ads or use tracking cookies.
What if I forget my password — or my sealing passphrase?
Your account password can always be reset via your email. The sealing passphrase is different: only you know it, and if you lose it, the sealed fields can only be restored with your printed recovery kit. Lose both, and the sealed fields are gone — that is the price of no one else being able to read them.
